Vision

PlenOptika disrupts the barriers to vision correction with eyeglasses for billions of underserved people worldwide with our medical device, QuickSee, which builds capacity for eye care professionals, NGOs, and optical retailers. PlenOptika, is an MIT medical device spin-out commercializing the QuickSee, an innovative handheld wavefront autorefractor capable of providing an accurate objective refraction (part of the standard eye test) within 10 seconds. PlenOptika has been widely recognized throughout the industry with non-dilutive commercialization grants from the NIH and leading eye care foundations, as well as in the press (http://plenoptika.com/media-library/). Leading international eye care influencers, both for-profit and non-profit, have successfully validated the clinical impact and business models that QuickSee enables in pilots with over 2,000 patients in the US, Spain, and India - resulting in peer-reviewed optometry publications, ophthalmology conference presentations, and an invitation to present at the 3rd Global Forum on Medical Devices organized by the World Health Organization. PlenOptika has launched a global-health version of the QuickSee in India with our partners, Aurolab, and will be launching the product in the USA in mid-2018.

Product info.

QuickSee, is an easy-to-use, fast, and accurate binocular autorefractor that dramatically speeds up the overall refraction process by quickly providing an accurate starting point for subjective refraction. It will penetrate, disrupt, and grow the traditional autorefractor market, while creating a new customer base (that traditionally would not buy an autorefractor because of its costs and space requirements (e.g., pharmacies, primary care physicians). For eye care organizations, QuickSee builds capacity to serve patients by improving the efficiency of existing eye care professionals, enabling the scale-up of new technicians, and expanding the reach of basic eye care into any setting, globally.
